A Coil / Screw Conveyor is a specially designed chip handling system used to transport long, continuous, stringy, and coiled metal chips generated during machining operations. It efficiently collects and conveys these chips from CNC machines to a designated collection point, preventing chip accumulation around the machine and ensuring uninterrupted production.

Unlike standard chip conveyors, a coil conveyor is engineered to handle long and tangled chips without frequent blockages. Its robust construction and optimized conveying mechanism provide smooth and continuous chip transportation, making it ideal for high-volume machining applications.


Working Principle

The Coil / Screw Conveyor is installed beneath or beside the CNC machine where metal chips are produced.

  • Long, coiled metal chips fall into the conveyor trough.
  • The conveyor mechanism (scraper, hinged belt, or screw, depending on the design) continuously moves the chips.
  • Chips are transported safely to the discharge end.
  • The chips are collected in a scrap bin or transferred to downstream equipment such as a Chip Crusher, Chip Centrifuge, or Centralized Chip Handling System for further processing.

This automated process reduces manual chip removal and keeps the machining area clean and efficient.
